Automated Creation of Variable DataSets
within Adobe Illustrator

The Populate_DataSets script takes a tab delimited text field and creates DataSets in the Variables panel.

The script should work in CS 1 and greater, on both Mac and PC, but it's only been thoroughly tested in CS4 on the Mac. To use it in CS you must change the extension from .jsx to .js

There are three sample files showing various ways the script works.

variables_creating.ai - shows the basic creation of variables & text fields to hold them.

variables_multipleText.ai - a sample business card layout, illustrating the power of variables by changing 10 occurrences of the same content automatically.

variables_w_images.ai - highlights the selection of external images.
